About Me
I am a soon-to-be graduate of Falmouth University. Having studied the three-year BA Hons Illustration course, I am equipped with the knowledge and ideas to partake in meaningful collaborations with prospective clients.
My work revolves around connections and bonds with people, specifically with a focus on nature, kindness and the important role of books in children’s lives.
I enjoy creating work that will help to shape the youngest members of our society in well-rounded individuals.
My Story
Shortly before my third birthday, my parents decided to move from our humble home in Poland to England, in search for a new beginning. We left behind everything we knew: the people we loved, the customs natural to us and the language and culture that defined who we were as individuals.
In hopes of finding some comfort, I picked up the one thing familiar to me in this foreign place: a picture book. Much to my dismay, the picturebooks I intended to read were nothing like the ones my grandpa read to me in our home in Poland. My, at the time, thick language barrier rendered the words senseless, and nobody was there to guide me through the complex narrative. The pictures, however, required no need for a bilingual tongue. By looking at the characters - their expressions and positions in relation to each other - I was able to create my own narratives. This is where I made the sudden a discovery of the mute language of art and illustration.
Even though the words didn't reciprocate, I realised that the pictoral element of a drawing was succesful in relaying thoughts and sentiments. By picking up a crayon and doodling on some paper, I was able to form lasting connections with others. I came to understand that illustration is a universal language : it acts as a wordless component connecting people together, and it was here that my journey with illustration began.
